Cailee Spaeny in Talks to Star in Fede Alvarez's 'Alien' Franchise Film.

Cailee Spaeny is in talks to star in the new "Alien" movie for 20th Century Studios.

Director Fede Alvarez, best known for "Don't Breathe" and 2013's "Evil Dead" remake, also wrote the screenplay, which reboots the science-fiction horror franchise. It's the seventh "Alien" movie following 2017's "Alien: Covenant."

Nothing else has been revealed about the plot of the planned Alien film, so it's not yet clear if it will have a direct connection with any of the previous movies. What seems most likely is that the film will involve Xenomorphs in a conflict against humans, as that has always been at the heart of the franchise.

Whatever it contains, Álvarez has delivered his latest draft of the script to 20th Century Studios and Scott Free and now the aim is to have the movie shooting next year.

While plot details are being kept under wraps for now, the casting of Spaeny does continue the franchise’s tradition of having a strong female lead at the center of the monstrosity.

Spaeny is currently shooting Priscilla, a biopic of Elvis Presley’s one-time wife, Priscilla Ann Presley, being directed by Sofia Coppola.

Ridley Scott, who directed the original sci-fi horror movie released in 1979 and returned for the two 21st century installments, Covenant among them, will produce via his Scott Free banner.
