MPAA Chief Satisfied With Outcome

In Washington, MPAA chief Jack Valenti issued a statement saying that "the motion picture industry has such broad, bipartisan support that we are not going to be harmed at all no matter who occupies the White House or controls the Congress." Valenti made no reference in his statement to the broadsides fired by each presidential candidate during the presidential campaign against violence and decaying values in movies. Instead, he focused on the need for the coming administration and Congress to crack down on pirates bootlegging movies abroad and over the Internet.
