The release of NICOLAS CAGE's new movie FAMILY MAN has been delayed a week - because bosses at UNIVERSAL would rather he tackle TOM HANKS at the box office than MEL GIBSON.
Family Man will now be released in America on 22 December, instead of December 15 (00), when it will compete with CAST AWAY rather than Gibson's WHAT WOMEN WANT.
A source at Universal claims the switch has come about because bosses feared Gibson's leading man in What Women Want was too similar to Cage's character in Family Man, in that both possess supernatural powers. (KL/LAT/RGS)
