The Biggest Film In Hong Kong This Year? THE EXORCIST

The re-released version of The Exorcist has turned out to be an enormous hit in Hong Kong, earning more in its debut there last weekend than any other film of the year, the South China Morning Post reported today (Wednesday).

The SCMP noted that the film also sold more tickets than any other horror film in the city's history. Success came despite a deluge of pirated copies of the movie that appeared on Hong Kong streets on opening day. However a spokeswoman for Warner Bros. told the newspaper: "Many of these pirated copies don't have the extra scenes in the new theatrical film. They're just copies of the old version."
