DONNY OSMOND has been a ray of hope for a former assistant who has is bravely battling a deadly brain tumour.

PAT DRESBACH, 38, went through a messy divorce last year (99), she lost her mother and father and was crushed by the death of her four-year-old son from a genetic disease.

Then unlucky Pat was diagnosed with cancer of the brain stem, and Donny has stepped in. He has flown her from her Salt Lake City, Utah, home to a specialist in Virginia.

Donny also gives her spiritual inspiration and prays with her at her house and via the telephone when he's away on business. Pat says, "Donny and his wife DEBBIE have been great. They were the first ones there for me to offer help."
