Chris Evans is joining Emily Blunt in the upcoming thriller, "Pain Hustlers", which is a project Netflix recently purchased during this year’s Cannes. The film follows the story of a mom (Blunt) who finds herself working for a pharmaceutical company in a strip mall. And over time, her drive and business acumen turn that small business into a powerhouse. "Pain Hustlers" is being described as tonally similar to films such as "American Hustle", "The Big Short," and "Wolf of Wall Street."
Written by Wells Tower, the film is directed by David Yates. Lawrence Grey is producing under his Grey Matter Productions banner alongside Yates and Yvonne Walcott Yates’ Wychwood Pictures. Lewis Taylor and Ben Everard are EPs, with Cyrus Mojibi, Patrick Wade, Lawrence Kao and Lloyd Everard serving as co-producers.
The movie’s official logline reads: "Dreaming of a better life for her and her young daughter, Liza Drake (Blunt), a high-school dropout, lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical start-up in a yellowing strip mall in Central Florida. Liza’s charm, guts and drive catapult the company and her into the high life, where she soon finds herself at the center of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences."
Production on "Pain Hustlers" is set to begin Aug. 22.
Evans is best known for his work as Captain America in the MCU, he can next be seen doing battle with Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas in "The Gray Man", which will start streaming this month on Netflix.
