Christopher Walken Joins 'Dune: Part Two' as The Emperor.

Christopher Walken had been cast in the role of Emperor Shaddam IV in the sequel to the blockbuster Best Picture nominee from Denis Villeneuve.

Walken joins a cast that already includes returning actors Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem, as well as new additions like Florence Pugh and future "Elvis" star Austin Butler.

Walken will play the ruler of the known universe who initially sends the Atreides family to Arrakis in order to cause their downfall. In the continuation, he and the baron terrorize the populace.

Pugh is playing Princess Irulan, the daughter of the emperor, while Butler is Feyd-Rautha, the cunning nephew of the baron who heads House Harkonnen and who is being groomed to rule Arrakis.

Part Two is set to carry on from where the first one left off, telling the rest of the story of Frank Herbert’s seminal 1965 novel of the same name, with Paul Atreides (Chalamet) fighting alongside the Fremen to free the desert planet of Arrakis from the grips of House Harkonnen.

Legendary and Warner Bros. will release Dune: Part Two on October 20, 2023.

Released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max last year, Dune opened to $41 million domestically, ending its run with $108 million domestically and $400 million worldwide.
