Katherine Waterston joins Sean Penn in drama thriller Black Flies.


Fantastic Beasts star Katherine Waterston joins the cast of the paramedic thriller Black Flies, which is led by Oscar winner Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan.

The Fantastic Beast star will be joining the project based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Shannon Burke. The adapted screenplay is penned by Ryan King, the story of Black Flies follows paramedics as they work to save the people's lives while taking a look into the toll that these heroic deeds take on their everyday lives.

Sean Penn will play Gene Rutkovsky, a seasoned paramedic known as one of New York's best. Tye Sheridan also stars as Ollie Cross, a green paramedic with an ethical heart and ambitions to go to medical school. How exactly Waterston's role intersects with Penn's and Sheridan's is not yet known, but a full quote from producer Warren Goz on Waterston's addition to Black Flies can be read below:

Upcoming for Waterston is Paramount’s Damien Chazelle feature Babylon and season 2 of HBO’s Perry Mason. She recently reprised her role as Tina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore which has grossed over $332M WW and sent the Harry Potter spinoff trilogy to $1.8 billion. She received great reviews in Bleecker Street’s period romance The World to Come opposite Casey Affleck and Vanessa Kirby, which made its world premiere at Venice.
