Shawn Levy in Talks to Direct Ryan Reynolds in 'Deadpool 3'.

Shawn Levy, the director of "Free Guy" and "The Adam Project", will once again team up with Ryan Reynolds for "Deadpool 3", the much-anticipated third installment of the comedic action franchise.

Levy is currently in negotiations to helm the third "Deadpool" film, which does not currently have an official title. Should he sign on the dotted line, it would mark the third collaboration between the director and Reynolds in just a few years.

This could very well be the thing that finally gets the sequel moving at Disney. The previous films were produced by Fox, which was not afraid of making R-rated superhero films. That was a bit outside of Disney's brand and, with a lot of moving pieces getting shifted around following the merger in 2019, the sequel has languished in development.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are currently writing the script for the third installment. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin ("Bob's Burgers") wrote the previous draft.

This marks the first film where Marvel Studios will work in partnership with Ryan Reynolds and Team Deadpool. The sequel is expected to be R-rated like the previous two "Deadpool" installments, which would be a first for Marvel Studios.
