N.Y. Mayor: "The Heck With The Grammys"

After learning that the Recording Academy had apparently decided to set aside for good its previous policy of rotating the annual Grammy Award ceremonies between New York and Los Angeles and hold it in L.A. for the third year in a row, New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has thumbed his nose at the music organization. "The heck with the Grammys -- we don't need 'em," the mayor told today's (Thursday) New York Post. A public feud between Giuliani and Michael Greene, the powerful boss of the Academy, erupted in 1998 after Greene chewed out one of Giuliani's aides for proposing that the mayor be allowed to read the list of nominees at a Radio City news conference.
