Kirsten Dunst to Star in Alex Garland's Action Epic 'Civil War'.

A24 and Ex Machina director Alex Garland are reuniting on upcoming action film Civil War with The Power Of The Dog awards prospect Kirsten Dunst and Wagner Moura on board.

Details on the film are being kept under wraps, but A24 describes the film as "an action epic" that takes place in a near-future America. Civil War comes from an original screenplay that Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) wrote. A24 will produce the film alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich of DNA and Gregory Goodman. A24 will also be handling the global release of the film.

Garland received his first Oscar nomination in 2016 for his Ex Machina screenplay and has also garnered accolades over the course of his career including a DGA Award and three BAFTA Award noms, among others. He’s previously teamed with A24 on Ex Machina, as well as Men, a horror-drama starring Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear that is set for release later this year.

Dunst most recently earned a SAG award nomination for her critically acclaimed performance as Rose Gordon in Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog.” Over the course of her career, Dunst has given notable performances in award-winning films including “Interview With the Vampire,” “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Hidden Figures,” “Marie Antoinette,” “Melancholia,” the “Spider-Man” franchise and “The Virgin Suicides,” among many others. In 2016, she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for her role as Peggy Blumquist in “Fargo”.
