Date: 27th March 2020
Following the new trend among film studios, Disney is releasing The Call of the Wild and Downhill on VOD starting this Friday, March 27.
These two films are the latest to receive early digital releases in the wake of the coronavirus
Both films had hit theaters in February just ahead of the worldwide coronavirus outbreak, and like other studio feature films will now get shortened theatrical-to-home windows as most cinemas are shut down during the pandemic. Most exhibitors worldwide look to be shut down for the next two months.
Last week, Disney announced its animated "Onward" would be available via digital for $19.99 and will hit Disney Plus on April 3 in the U.S.
Lionsgate, Sony, Universal, STX Films and Warner Bros. have all announced plans to release films early on VOD, including "I Still Believe", "The Way Back", "Bloodshot", "Birds of Prey", "“The Hunt" and "The Invisible Man".
