Mark Wahlberg is in final talks to star opposite Tom Holland in Sony Pictures' Uncharted, the long-in-the-works film adaptation of the bestselling PlayStation action-adventure video game.

Providing Wahlberg and Sony reach an agreement, the Transformers actor will join Tom Holland for the PlayStation-inspired blockbuster. Wahlberg was originally tipped to play the adult Drake long before Sony's video game movie was sent back to the drawing board, at a time when David O. Russell was in the director's chair.

Bumblebee's Travis Knight is in the director's chair for the film, which in its current incarnation will follow the younger days of treasure hunter Nathan Drake, who journeys around the world to investigate historical mysteries.

The gaming series, which began in 2007 with "Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune", was created by developer Naughty Dog and published by PlayStation.
