Movie heart-throb RUSSELL CROWE is being persuaded to take flight on the silver screen as the new SUPERMAN with a massive pay offer.

The GLADIATOR star has reportedly been offered a whopping $30 million (£20 million) for taking on the lead role in the fifth movie in the series.

Studio bosses want Australian Crowe to star as the comic-book hero - formerly played by CHRISTOPHER REEVE - in the long-awaited adventure SUPERMAN LIVES.

A Hollywood insider says, "Executives desperately want him to do it. It's up to him but they're offering more money than he's ever earned before."
