American actor RICHARD GERE saw two births on the day his son HOMER came into the world - to be fully prepared for his role as a gynaecologist.

Gere thought he may as well take the opportunity of being in a maternity ward to do some research for his role in the movie he was filming at the time - DR T AND THE WOMEN. He explains, "I actually saw two births that day. There was a C-section before us, and I asked one of the nurses if I could watch it. "I had mentioned that I was playing a gynaecologist in an upcoming movie."
