East Is East (1999) - Details

East Is East is set in Salford (Manchester) in 1971 and tells the tale of an Anglo-Pakistani family headed by a stern father and a no-nonsense Lancashire mother. The father, a devout Muslim, tries to bring up his six sons and one daughter in the ways of his homeland - even attempting to arrange suitable marriage partners for them. But they're having none of it, much to the consternation and bewilderment of their strict father.
