Blue Move Dolphin DVD Review

Title: Blue Move – Dolphins
Running Time: 60 minutes

Blue Move Dolphin DVDDolphins are well renowned for being one of the most intelligent mammals on the planet and loved by many people. Recent academy award winning documentary The Cove showed in quite graphic detail how they are being persecuted. It’s a worthwhile and important documentary.

In this DVD we are treated to an interesting look and insight into this animal and the complex relationships that it has with humans. Filmed in their natural habitat at the Dolphin Reef in Eilat, Israel, the largest seawater basin in the world we follow the lives of a group of Bottlenose dolphins, including infants born on the site, as they perform their daily routines of hunting, playing, courting and socialising.

The disc is both an insight into these animals as well as a wonderful spectacle of their beauty and the freedom that the oceans allow them. It also looks at the complexity of the lives that they live, their desire to be part of a group and their dislike of solitude.

On one level this DVD shows beautiful close-up footage of free-swimming dolphins that mesmerise you as they live their lives. On another level it is an insight into how swimming with dolphins has been long-reputed as an excellent therapy for many human disorders – both physical and mental.

This magnificent blu-ray disc features some stunning close-up photography which is both engaging as well as relaxing to watch. It can be watched intensely or you could just have it on in the background – like an extremely large aquarium in your front room. The images are clear and crisp and the colours are vibrant. The music is also nicely chosen to accompany the images on screen and there are two soundtracks to choose from. One thing to explain is that you shouldn’t expect to hear David Attenborough or anyone else narrating what is happening. This is just a beautiful example of dolphins swimming and living.
