American Pie 2 : Movie Review

Much awaited Second Pie has arrived and boy will it stuff you like its predecessor! The tale of teenage angst continues, this time a year on and a freshman year later. The kids are back in town with vengeance. Brimming with sexual tension (still) and overwrought with hormones, the reunion begins with a party at Stifler's (surprise, surprise). Much the same as ever, the rooms are packed with youngsters adorned with lipstick, armed with push-up bras, boys eyeing the talent from the corners of their bulging, twitching eyes - trousers eager to drop - yes, this is definitely Stifler's party!

Back home and together again, the gang members Jim (Jason Biggs), Kev (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Oz (Chris Klein), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and of course sex-crazed Stifler (Seann William Scott), embark on a summer trip to a beach house, to enjoy their first summer back from college. Arriving at the celestial house, the boys start planning for the biggest blowout ever - all they need now are multiple babes! Amongst the friends, Oz is preoccupied and in love with girlfriend from school, old timer Heather (Mena Suvari) and Finch the tantric Buddhist sex God (someone has to be), is still obsessing about Stifler's mom (M. I. L. F. ) whom he 'seduced' (much to everyone's disbelief, especially Stifler's) on prom night! Jim's engrossed in figuring out how to improve his sexual technique for Nadia's (Czech exchange student) impending return! Still as hapless as ever and no real skills in the bedroom department, Jim seeks Michelle ("this one time, at band camp") for tips. There is only one place to find her in summer and yes, you've guessed it - Band Camp! Finally we gain a glimpse of the much talked about 'Band Camp' and gather more perspective on Michelle's very interesting character!

Expectedly Jim stumbles on a major problem soon enough when fiddling around in his room one night. .. He superglues (yes, superglue mistaken for lubricant) his hand to. .. himself and his other hand to. .. A porno movie! Needless to say his accident renders his manhood useless, (as it was already) and his pride once again in tatters!

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the party plans are developing and soon enough the time arrives for the beach party of the century (the much anticipated girl-fest).

Deliverance by the characters ensures the best outcome of the humorous moments (mostly arrogant, womanizer Stifler, Jim and Jim's dad played by veteran actor Eugene Levy). Second time round Pie is unable to shock viewers to the degree of the first (like the unmentionable apple pie and Jim moment), but with original groundbreaking boundary-pushing scenarios, American Pie 2 only falls slightly short of its mother American Pie (1999). Originality aside, only American Pie (1&2), could tackle such embarrassing issues, like sexual beginnings and exploration of the body in such a funny way! So, hats off for daring to repeat what was so risqué last time!

In conclusion, cringing is probable, laughter is certain - entertainment is guaranteed!
