The Triangle DVD Release

“The Triangle energetically plumbs the Bermuda Triangle’s depths.”
New York Times

From the film-makers behind
INDEPENDENCE DAY and X-MEN
comes a stunning new original mini-series

“Consistently impressive.” LA Times

Two of Hollywood’s foremost talents, Bryan Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns) and Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate) bring their combined pedigree to a new medium with their first collaboration, The Triangle, a truly riveting exploration into the centuries old mystery of the Bermuda Triangle.

Presented in limited packaging, this double-disc DVD is set for release by Momentum Pictures on 29 May 2006 following its 3 episode BBC One broadcast at the end of May. Bringing a new meaning to the term ‘event television’, the production is undaunted by the perceived confines of the medium, bringing Hollywood to the small screen and introducing audiences to a new level of sophistication. Added to this is an array of enticing DVD extras including Inside The Triangle – The Sci Fi Channel Making of Special and cast and crew interviews.

triangle DVDAired in the US in December 2005 to a Sci Fi channel record-breaking audience, The Triangle is produced to the scale of a multi-million dollar feature film and features an array of film and television stars including Eric Stoltz (Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy), Catherine Bell (JAG, Bruce Almighty), Bruce Davison (X-Men), Lou Diamond Phillips (Courage Under Fire, Stand and Deliver), Michael Rodgers (Auto Focus), and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park).

Singer and Devlin bring to The Triangle a spirit of adventure coupled with an extensive experience producing projects on a massive scale. In fact, The Triangle is in some ways even more ambitious than Independence Day was. For instance, in the latter, there were just over 300 digital effects. In The Triangle, and with less time working on the project, there are over 800, all co-ordinated by SFX supervisor Volker Engel, who also won an Oscar for Independence Day.

Devlin has a lifelong fascination with the Bermuda Triangle: “Ever since I was a kid I’ve been intrigued by the Bermuda Triangle. I think it is one of the great ‘What Ifs’. It is something that I think everyone has heard of and is in our collective unconscious. Also, the Bermuda Triangle’s mysteries go all the way back to Columbus and nobody has come up with a satisfactory explanation.”

The Triangle’s combination of state of the art special effects and the carefully detailed designs imbue the mini-series with an eerie sense of realism. Coupled with a fascinating story, The Triangle demonstrates that in the Bermuda Triangle, nothing stays lost forever.
