LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

“This tall tale and true makes for an enjoyably low-key quirky comedy and a terrific starring vehicle for ‘Jackass’ star Knoxville…. Could easily become a bit of a cult favourite”
TC – Time Out (Nov 5)

"Grand Theft Parsons" is a gently buddy movie, an original road movie and a hilarious comedy. Parsons himself would have loved such homage: black humour mixed with a strong sense of friendship and loyalty….moving and funny…. a minor film but noble and gentle in a way movies are not supposed to be anymore”
THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF FILM CRITICS (Nov 16)

DUBLIN FILM FESTIVAL

“A dark comedy that’s also surprisingly gentle and touching… a road movie with a difference… scuffed, sweet and bitterly funny”
IRISH TIMES (Nov 29)

3*… Surprisingly moving true-life road movie / black comedy, with a sweet performance from Johnny Knoxville… Knoxville is excellent in his first serious lead…. Applegate is superb as ever… Shannon is hilarious…. An unexpectedly lovely little film that is quite possibly destined for Future Cult Movie status… It’s funny and moving and has a superb soundtrack as well as sweet performances from its cast… worth seeing
Matthew Turner – www.viewlondon.co.uk

8/10… a wonderfully funny film that has some deft emotional resonances and a sprinkling of laugh-out-loud moments that will pop into your head for days after it has finished …. Includes one of the most unexpected and uproarious moments of recent comedies … a warm and funny road movie… it’s a hugely uplifting affair that leaves the audience with a broad smile”

“one of those movies that you almost can’t believe didn’t get made before now”
www.chud.com

“* * * *…a scruffy and organic road movie that becomes sweet without being manipulative…Knoxville is excellent in his first leading role, creating an authentic hangdog character we can root for against the odds….this extraordinary story takes on an extra level of meaning as a down-to-earth fable about loyalty. A very nice surprise”

4*… A rock n’ roll road movie like no other”
Filmthreat.com

“David Caffrey’s film of an extraordinary but true rock legend is a nicely mischievous black-comedy caper…At the film’s heart, though, is a hymn to friendship and the heroism of a man keeping his word…Knoxville in a revelatory performance as Kaufman, born to the role of a party animal turned caring, adult compadre…a universal fable about grand, reckless gestures and unbreakable bonds…as a very funny road movie – it’s a minor triumph.”

“It’s a brilliant black comedy…”
J-17 (Feb 2004)

4*…. Michael Shannon is hilarious as Larry…the original nature of this indie flick is a treat!
ICE (Feb 2004)

“This is a funny, slapstick movie about a hippy, a roadie, a dead country singer and his money-grabbing ex-wife…. Johnny Knoxville is so excellent as Parson’s roadie
DAZED AND CONFUSED (March)

Knoxville gives a surprisingly restrained performance in this generally likeable, funny little indie comedy that nevertheless fails to capitalise on the emotional and comic strengths of its true story.
Anna Smith - EMPIRE

3*…… This roadie road movie plays like Weekend At Bernie's crossed with The Cannonball Run. Rough around the edges, but worth a butcher's
FHM

3*…. dippy, blackly comic road movie ….. Knoxville's hugely charismatic turn as the barking Kaufman makes it more than watchable
Ceri Thomas - MAXIM

4*…. Knoxville is great… proving that he can act seriously …. kudos goes most to the actor Michael Shannon who plays the Hippie with some fantastic quotable dialogue and comic timing, he is definitely one to watch in the future. The direction is great by David Caffrey giving it a fresh feel throughout. The soundtrack is peppered with Parson's songs proving what a talent he was and how great he could have been…. it may not appeal to the masses but this is one film that will put a big dumb smile on your face and leave you walking out the cinema very happy.
Mark Cappuccio – SCREENTRADE (email Oct 29)

“Essentially this is a film about keeping our promises… there’s always a worry when film-makers tackle the lives of the musicians we cherish, the nagging fear that they’ll mess it up…. What a relief that this blackly comic yarn or a road movie is such an enjoyable ride… Johnny Knoxville, utterly believable as Kaufman, a role he seems to have been born to play
SIGHT AND SOUND (Nov)

**** A true story so bizarre you couldn't make it up if you tried….The fact the whole story is actually true makes this one hell of a surreal experience.
