Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Movie Poster
Whenever there is a new GODZILLA movie there is always a great deal of hype.

We've had some excellent actors cast in previous movies including Jake Gylehaal and Walter White. And this installment of GODZILLA is no different with the likes of Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Ken Watanabe. Also onboard is Sally Hawkins (so wonderful in The Shape of Water) and Millie Bobby Brown in her big screen debut fresh from her TV hit show Stranger Things.

I think it's best to ignore the plot for reviewing purposes... If I just say it's a bit silly I think that's enough. But it's a film about a giant sea creature so you're not going into this movie expecting an Oscar winning screenplay are you? You're here for ancient god-sized monsters fighting it out. So a plot line that focuses on the crypto-zoological agency Monarch facing off with Godzilla and a bunch of other monsters including Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah as they all vie for supremacy of the sea and land sounds about right doesn't it? Well it sounds like a bloody good mash up of monsters and villains to me.

Anyone who loves watching disaster movies involving mythical, monsterous creatures will find plenty to enjoy here. It's all a bit daft and hammy, but fun.

This sort of film doesn't win Golden Globes but they do very well on the home entertainment market where they're perfect for family rated popcorn and soda pop nights in front of the small screen, especially as the darker nights close in.

Godzilla also looks amazing in 4k ultra high definition with the deepest, darkest blacks and the crispest, sharpest images available and stunning colours. Although I will say that some of the CGI is less than impressive.

It's family entertainment... Kids (of 12 and over) and parents, who doesn't enjoy watching the fictional destruction of cities in gargantuan proportion? Terrifying monsters doing battle to wipe out half of the human race with some mild horror and jump scares along the way.
