Biography

FRED BARON began his association with Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin after Luhrmann had begun work on WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO and JULIET (1996), for which Baron oversaw production in his capacity as Twentieth Century Fox's Senior Vice President of Feature Production.

Baron took a leave of absence from Fox when Luhrmann asked him to produce, with Martin Brown and Luhrmann, MOULIN ROUGE (2001). Baron also worked closely with the studio on behalf of the Sydney-based production.

Over the last decade at Fox, Baron has overseen the production of feature films that include LAST OF THE MOHICANS, The (1992), GRAND CANYON (1991), HOME ALONE (1990) BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (1992), EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990), Alien: resurrection (1997), BULWORTH (1998) and X-FILES, The (1998).

Prior to joining Fox, Baron was a producer and an executive at HBO Pictures, which he left to become a producer on the award-winning cable TV series TALES FROM THE CRYPT, for executive producers Richard Donner, Joel Silver, Walter Hill and Robert Zemeckis.
