Montreal-born CHRISTIAN DUGUAY's directing career started with the series "William Tell," for French television channel FR3. He had originally been brought in as second unit action director when he was asked to direct the second episode—and ended up directing the rest of the show for two years. Prior to that turn of fate, Duguay spent 10 years as a cameraman and director of photography on film sets around the world. He has since won renown as both a feature film and television director in Canada, the United States and abroad. "Joan of Arc," his latest television miniseries which aired on CBS, was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards and four Golden Globes, including in both instances nominations for Best Miniseries and Best Director.
Among his other major directorial film credits are the critically-acclaimed thriller "The Assignment," starring Donald Sutherland, Ben Kingsley and Aidan Quinn, and the science fiction film "Screamers," starring Peter Weller.
In 1996, Duguay directed the much-acclaimed miniseries "Million Dollar Babies," a Canadian-American co-production about the Dionne quintuplets, starring Beau Bridges and Kate Nelligan, which aired on CBS.
His work on this project garnered him the Best Director Award from the Geminis (Canada’s equivalent of the Emmy Awards).
Between films he has also directed a number of award-winning commercials, including spots for Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Chrysler, General Motors, McDonalds, the Yellow Pages and Labatt Blue Dry.
