Biography

Jeff BridgesJEFF BRIDGES, a three-time Academy Award® nominee, earned his first Oscar® nod for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Peter Bogdanovich's Last Picture Show, the (1971). His second nomination, in the same category, came for Michael Cimino's Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) .

His portrayal of an earthbound alien in Starman (1984) brought him an Academy Award® nomination for Best Actor, as well as a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. He received another Golden Globe nomination for Fisher King, The (1991) , and won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor for his role in American Heart (1992), which also marked his producing debut.

Bridges' extensive credits include a broad range of roles in such films as Fabulous Baker Boys, The (1989), with Michelle Pfeiffer and Beau Bridges; the thriller Jagged Edge (1985), opposite Glenn Close; Francis Ford Coppola's Tucker: The Man and his Dream (1988) ; Peter Weir's Fearless (1993), Blown Away (1994) , opposite Tommy Lee Jones; Ridley Scott's White Squall (1996) ; John Huston's Fat City (1972); and Barbara Streisand's "Mirror Has Two Faces, The (1996) .

He more recently starred in the screen version of Sam Shepard's play Simpatico (1999) , the Coen Brothers' comedy "Big Lebowski, The (1998) , the thriller Arlington Road (1999) , and the comedy Muse, The (1999) .His film work also includes Vanishing, The (1993) Nadine (1987) and Tron (1982)

In addition to his acting, Bridges is also an accomplished musician, singer and composer, who recently released his first album, Be Here Soon, on Ramp Records (a label he co-founded with Michael McDonald and Chris Pelonis). He is also a painter and photographer, whose works have been exhibited in galleries in several major cities.
