Mad Max Fury Road sweeps the movies board with nine wins.


Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) proved to be the film to beat at this year's Critics' Choice Awards, taking home a total of nine trophies.

Among the film's accolades were Best Director for George Miller, Best Action Movie, Best Actor in an Action Movie for Tom Hardy and Best Actress in an Action Movie for Charlize Theron.

The film also swept the board on the technical front, picking up Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Hair & Makeup, Best Editing and Best Visual Effects to boot.

In the big five categories, Alicia Vikander and Sylvester Stallone took home the Best Supporting Actress and Actor awards for their roles in The Danish Girl and Creed respectively, while Best Actress went to Brie Larson for Room and Leonardo DiCaprio picked up the Best Actor win for The Revenant.

Spotlight (2015) was awarded Best Picture, and was also honoured with the awards for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Original Screenplay on the night.
