Paramount Backs Tom Cruise for Another Sequel.

Paramount Pictures vice chairman Rob Moore is ready for more Ethan Hunt, strongly endorsing Tom Cruise’s recent announcement that “Mission: Impossible 6? is in the works.

"We’re very happy to be developing this movie with Tom," Moore told Variety. "There’s no question that Ethan Hunt deserves another film."

The news of another film in the franchise follows an opening weekend that saw Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation easily take down competition from the likes of Vacation and Ant-Man in the US box office by taking $56 million.

If filming does begin next year as Cruise told The Daily Show it would, the sixth Mission: Impossible movie could be the fastest sequel to come out of the series yet, after the first five films had at least four years between them.

So far the franchise has grossed a combined $2 billion at the worldwide box office, with the latest instalment set to increase that total once it opens in over 40 countries.
