Eddie Redmayne In Talks For Fantastic Beasts Role.

Eddie Redmayne has been approached to star in Harry Potter spin-off ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.

Redmayne, who led this year’s award-winning ‘The Theory of Everything’, has apparently been offered the role of Newt Scamander.

Variety claimed that the British actor was the front runner for the part but wished to see the script before committing. Sources have claimed that, upon reading the finished screenplay, Redmayne was pleased and is now willing to move forward with the project.

That said, it’s still up to its director, David Yates, who exactly will be considered for the role, after Harry Potter scribe JK Rowling completed her first screenplay. Having written the entire Harry Potter series, this is her first script and will be the first of three she’ll pen as part of the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ trilogy.

The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ series is set around 70 years prior to the Potter story. Based in New York, it’s about the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and revolves around its author, Newt Scamander, who is described as a magiczoologist.
