JK Rowling: 'I'm ready to move on from Harry Potter'

JK Rowling has revealed that she has been quietly working on several new writing projects, and now feels finally ready to move on from the Harry Potter series.

The English author said that although she had been doing a lot since the publication of the final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2007, she hadn't wanted to release any non-related material until the final film had been released.

With the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 next week, Rowling said that she feels that now is the right time for a fresh start.

"I'm writing, and I've done quite a lot since finishing Harry Potter," Rowling revealed to MTV News. "But I also felt I wanted the last film out of the way before I made any moves on the publishing front."

"Harry is so huge and I suppose my involvement with the world has still been quite intense," she explained. "This feels like a new beginning to me."

Rowling added that she never feels prouder than when a child or parent of a child says that reading the Harry Potter series got them into reading other books.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is released in US and UK cinemas on July 15.
