Actor Josh Hartnett has been released from a Los Angeles hospital where he was treated for gastrointestinal problems.

The star's publicist said he underwent tests at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to determine the cause of the illness.

The actor was admitted to the hospital by ambulance on 30 March and released later that week.

Hartnett suffered the same complaint while making his West End debut in a stage adaptation of Rain Man last year.
