She was found unconscious in her Florida hotel room and rushed to hospital.

Police said Anna Nicole was found by her private nurse on Thursday 8th February - and that her bodyguard, then paramedics, all battled to resuscitate her.

One member of the emergency services said she was already dead when the second crew got there.

She was rushed to hospital at 2.49pm local time.

But over an hour after emergency services were alerted, doctors said she had died.

One of her lawyers, Ron Rale, said: "Anna has passed away. This is a terrible tragedy."

She had been trying to come to terms with the death of her son last year, days after the birth of her daughter Dannielynn and was in the middle of a paternity battle over the girl.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of her death.
