Jessica Simpson will star in the new Baywatch film.

The Dukes of Hazzard star will play a lifeguard in the remake of the 1990s show.

According to The Sun a source said: "Jessica really caught the eye in The Dukes of Hazzard film last summer. She was the unanimous choice for the Baywatch role."

The TV series made stars of Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra.

The source added: "Jessica has all the assets to make Pammi's part her own."

Producers hope David Hasselhoff, 53, who played Lt Mitch Buchannon, will now join the cast.
