Marilyn to play Queen of Hearts

Marilyn Manson is set to play the Queen of Hearts in a re-make of Alice in Wonderland.

The star, who is currently lending his voice to new computer game, Area-51, will begin shooting for the film Living In Neon Dreams next month in Germany and South Africa.

He will be appearing in the movie alongside Daryl Hannah, Tim Roth and Jonathan Pryce reports NME.com quoting MTV.

Manson said: "I'm not just playing a drag queen, I'm playing a woman. There's a big difference, and there's more work to do on that. So I'm studying early Joan Crawford, and I've been kind of watching the lady at home, picking up some characteristics. She can teach me how to put my stockings on straight, though I think I've already mastered that."

The role is one of many the singer has taken up in Hollywood over the last few years.

He appeared as a drag queen for the full-length feature Party Monster and played himself in Tony Scott's short film Beat The Devil.

The singer has also recently completed filming for the low budget adaption of JT LeRoy's book The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.

In the movie, Manson, plays a child molester called Jackson.

"I thought it would be more of a despicable character," he said.
