Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are to make a film about Daniel Pearl, the journalist murdered in Pakistan.

The couple, with Brad Grey's production company Plan B, have bought the film rights to his wife Mariane's memoir A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life And Death Of My Husband Danny Pearl.

The 38-year-old Jewish American Wall Street Journal correspondent was filmed as he was killed by Pakistani militants, with suspected al-Qaida links, in 2002.

His wife initially refused to sell the rights but changed her mind in the hope a film would pay tribute to her husband and celebrate his legacy of promoting cross-cultural understanding, reports Teletext.
