Uma Thurman is to join Ben Affleck in new sci-fi thriller Paycheck.

Based on a short story by Philip K Dick, it centres on a man called Jennings who has part of his memory erased by his employer.

Thurman will play Rachel, a PhD who heads a division of a science concern.

It also stars Six Feet Under star Michael C Hall, who plays the lead FBI agent who is spearheading the investigation into his memory.

Director John Woo expects Paycheck to go into production next month, with its release date scheduled for the end of the year.

Thurman returns to theaters this fall with Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill.

She received a SAG nomination this year for her work in HBO's Hysterical Blindness.
