Russ' field of dreams

IT sounds like one of those stories about flannel-loving actor Russell Crowe that you should take with a big dose of salt.
Confidential's sources insist it's true, so here goes.

Crowe is said to be looking to buy a property near to his own at Nana Glen.

Nothing odd about that, except that Confidential hears Crowe wants to build a baseball diamond on the patch and one of the reasons for doing so is so that it can be used as a training camp for a team with which Hollywood giant Danny DeVito is involved.

We told you it sounded far-fetched but you know what they say about truth and fiction and which can be stranger.

Crowe and DeVito have apparently been mates since they teamed up in the film based on James Ellroy's novel of the same name, LA Confidential.

Crowe's publicist did not return Confidential's calls.

Meanwhile, Crowe's band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts will release their second album, on which Russ has reportedly recorded a duet with The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde, on April 8.

Hynde met Crowe last year in London and invited his band to tour the US with her.

Their number together is called Never Be Alone Again, to be featured on the Grunts' CD Other Ways Of Speaking.

On the album, according to People magazine, the billing has been altered from 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, to Russell Crowe and 30 Odd Foot of Grunts.
