DreamWorks producer signs up with rivals Disney

The producer of DreamWorks' hit animated movie Shrek (2001) has signed a deal with rivals Walt Disney to produce a series of films.

John Williams' first project for Disney will be Valiant, an animated World War Two comedy about a bird in the Royal Pigeon Service.

The film follows the misfit pigeon through boot camp, to being sent on a mission in Normandy before the D-Day landings.

Williams' Vanguard Films is expected to make a further three CG-animated films for Disney, budgeted between $35-$40 million.
