As Winona Ryder's latest film, Mr. Deeds (2002) comes out in the US tomorrow the actress is hoping that her current shoplifting charges won't distract people's attention from the film.

Winona was absent from the New York premiere last week and a representative was quoted as saying, "She is in the heart of other issues going on. I think she has done her best to support the picture."
