ET Re-Release Flops

Steven Spielberg's 20th anniversary re-release of sci-fi classic ET has flopped at the box-office.

The film - which grossed $725 million (£505 million) on its first release in 1982 - has been relaunched including scenes cut from the original, amidst a blaze of publicity.

But the four-Oscar winning flick has failed to inspire movie-goers the second time around. Latest figures from Hollywood show the movie took just $6. 6 million (£4. 6 million) from 26 countries over the Easter weekend (30-21March 2002). And studio bosses are already conceding that so many people have seen the film on video they aren't interested in witnessing its return to the big-screen.
