Arnold Schwarzenegger's hit new movie Collateral Damage (2001) has allowed the action man to bring a pet project back from the dead.
Post-apocalyptic drama I Am Legend was scrapped five years ago over fears it was too expensive a film for a studio to make. But Arnie is now in negotiations with Will Smith to join him in the project and the film is reportedly on a fast track at Warner Brothers.
Schwarzenegger will no longer star in the film and instead plans
to become the film's producer. The film is an adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel set in Los Angeles after a biological war. It pits the last man on earth against nocturnal mutants bent on rendering him extinct. The project halted in late 1997 because of WB concerns over a budget that hovered around $125 million (£90 million).
