Crowe Sulks And Misses BAFTA Bash

Hollywood hunk RUSSELL CROWE was conspicuously absent from the BAFTA awards aftershow bash in London because he was sulking. According to American newspaper the New York Daily News, the GLADIATOR (2000) actor was fuming because he thinks that HARVEY WEINSTEIN, head of Mirimax, who threw the do, is working against him in the OSCAR race.

The star was nowhere to be seen, missing out on the company of superstars such as KEVIN SPACEY, Renée Zellweger, DAME JUDI DENCH and pal NICOLE KIDMAN last Sunday (24th February 2002) The New-Zealand born heart-throb thinks that Weinstein is running an anti-BEAUTIFUL MIND, a (2001) campaign in the run up to the Oscars and a source says, "He's p**sed off at Harvey".

Crowe has recently been blasted by British newspapers- for lashing out at a BBC executive who cut his speech during the BAFTAs. He has also been criticised for spoiling British chat-show Parkinson, by refusing to be interviewed with fellow Aussies KYLIE MINOGUE and CATE BLANCHETT. But the star doesn't think that his tempestuous reputation will affect his chances of winning an Oscar. He says, "I think the Oscars are supposed to be about the performance that you've given. I don't think I'm nominated for a 'Worst Argument With an English TV executive. '"
