Gwyneth Paltrow Couldn't Always Afford Style

GWYNETH PALTROW refuses to feel guilty about receiving free designer clothing - because she couldn't afford to be so stylish until recently. Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, Gucci and Karl Lagerfeld are among the designers who love sending the actress clothes in the hope she'll wear their wares - which contrasts sharply with her pauper days.

She tells 'Vogue', "I get to wear something beautiful, and if it gives the person exposure that's fine. It seems like a reasonable business transaction. I was, like, Hot Actress in 'Rolling Stone' for 1994, and I went to Calvin Klein to order some clothes wholesale. It was really beautiful stuff. I was fretting because even the wholesale cost for me at that point. I was in a cold sweat in this hotel room, thinking, 'I don't have that money; they think I have the money. ' I really wanted something. "
