JENNIFER ANISTON feared she'd suffered a miscarriage after crashing her car earlier this month. The Friends star is desperate for a child with husband BRAD PITT, according to American supermarket tabloid The National Enquirer.

A source told the magazine, "Jennifer wants to have a baby so badly. It was the most terrifying moment of her life!" Aniston's silver Jaguar XJ8 was hit in the side by a Volkswagon Jetta as she drove to work on January 15 (2002), leaving her weeping and in pain.

The source says Jennifer's distress was caused by the fact that she thought she might be pregnant - and that the wreck would cause her to miscarry. The pal says, "Jennifer and Brad are trying to start their family and she had told the producers of Friends their plans. Of course, they happily wrote the story line into the show. So if she were pregnant, the possibility of losing the baby and having to play out the pregnancy story line on Friends really threw her. "

Pitt is said to have been so shaken up by the crash that he's refused to allow Jennifer to drive, forcing her to use a chauffeur at all times.
