Stars like EWAN McGREGOR, RUSSELL CROWE, TOM HANKS, NICOLE KIDMAN and ANTHONY HOPKINS will be joined by undercover FBI agents at Sunday's (20th January 2002) Golden Globe awards. In the wake of the 11 September (2001) terror attacks on America, ceremony bosses have decided to take no chances and are stepping up security at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to the highest degree.

Agents will check the background of every star, journalist, producer and agent attending the ceremony, as well as mingling with the celeb guests on the night. One LA producer jokes, "They want to know if your KATE WINSLEt has any links to Osama Bin Laden. " He continues, "The FBI feel that there are some terrorist operatives who are at large, and a strike on the centre of global popular entertainment would be seen as a devastating blow. " (NFA/WNTMA)
