Four Weddings Star Dies

The late FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL (1992) actress CHARLOTTE COLEMAN was described yesterday (17 NOV 01) as "an English GOLDIE HAWN" by co- star SIMON CALLOW. The 33-year-old actress died tragically of a severe asthma attack at her north London flat last Thursday (15NOV01).

Charlotte played HUGH GRANT's scatty flatmate SCARLETT in the 1994 movie, with many critics saying she stole the show. She also won a BAFTA nomination in the controversial TV drama ORANGES ARE NOT THE ONLY FRUIT.

Callow says, "It's a terrible loss. I didn't know she suffered from asthma so badly. It's dreadful that she's gone - really crazy. She was so full of talent and life. I will remember her vivacity. She was like an English Goldie Hawn. She was a unique champagne comedienne. " (TM/WNSNE/ES)
