Troubled actor ROBERT DOWNEY JnR is avoiding temptation towards his bad old habits - by avoiding all his friends. The CHAPLIN (1992) star is recovering from his persistent drug problems at LA's exclusive PROMISES rehab facility, and non-celeb old friends say he is snubbing them - even those who don't do drugs.

One pal, who has seen Downey making the rounds at celeb-friendly restaurants and movie parties, grumbles, "He gives you a hug and a smile, and then beelines to the nearest director. I can't even get his phone number. " (NFA/WNWCPS)
