Starsky And Hutch To Hit Big Screen

After big screen adaptations of cult television shows such as CHARLIE'S ANGELS (2000) and AVENGERS, The (1998), STARSKY AND HUTCH are set to be the next TV crime busters to be given the Hollywood treatment.

SWINGERS (1996) star VINCE VAUGHN has announced that he and BEN STILLER are looking to make a film of the hugely successful 1970s police show, which originally starred DAVID SOUL and PAUL MICHAEL GLASER.

The pair discovered their mutual love of the action heros, who were as famous for their ill-advised fashion statements as their crime fighting, when they worked together on the fashion comedy ZOOLANDER (2001).

According to reports, Vaughn would play straight man Hutch to Stiller's cardigan-wearing wisecracking Starksy. The series, which ran from 1976 to 1979, made huge stars of Soul and Glaser and still has an enormous cult following today.

However, the project may still be rather a long way off. Stiller has two more films lined up, while Vaughn is starring opposite JOHN TRAVOLTA in the new thriller DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE (2001). (HB/WNWCGU/KMW)
