Scottish movie star ALAN CUMMING almost wed pal JENNIFER JASON LEIGH, when it became clear they needed more money to make ANNIVERSARY PARTY, the (2001).

The couple, who teamed up to write, direct and star in the hit comedy, were faced with having to scrap the project at one point because they ran out of cash - and it nearly saw them running up the aisle.

Cumming explains, "We got a bit panicky because we thought we wouldn't have enough money for post-production. So we considered getting married for a while, selling the photos to the highest bidder, then getting divorced right before the film was released. It's a bit dramatic, but I still think it was a great idea. " (KL/FL/RP)
