Velasquez's Fears About Acting Career

Stunning model-turned-actress PATRICIA VELASQUEZ is winning plaudits for her role in new flick MUMMY RETURNS, the (2001) - but she hates catwalk queens who go on to act.

The Venezuelan-born beauty was a star on the catwalks of Milan and New York before switching careers, and says she had serious doubts about whether she was doing the right thing.

Patricia, 30, says, "I never wanted to become an actress, because that's what every model does. It's like, 'Okay, how can I still be the centre of attention? Oh, I'll become an actress. ' I'm against just becoming a 'product' - all these models who do calendars, then become singers or actors. It's fine if you can do it. But if you say, 'I'm going to be a singer' just because you're famous and don't really have the voice, what about those people out there who can sing and don't get the chance? "There has to be a point where you draw the line and stop being so ambitious. " (MCM/H/ES)
