FRASIER star KELSEY GRAMMER became clinically depressed for a year after the murder of his sister KAREN.

The actor, who was 20 at the time, was very close to his sister who was raped and murdered by a gang of teenagers in 1975, when she was only 18-years-old. And he remembers the day the police knocked on his door to tell him the tragic news as the worst day of his life.

He says, "The policemen took me outside and they put the book on the hood of the car and I saw KAREN LISA GRAMMER written there and they said, 'We have a body we believe is your sister in Colorado Springs (America).' "I flew out, identified her. It was a tough day. It was hard, but you just do it. One foot in front of the other. They found the three boys, all teens who had done it. They'd killed seven people, Karen had been the sixth. They got the death penalty. "I went nuts in my own way. I was clinically depressed for the next year."
