British film BILLY ELLIOT has won an incredible five prizes at the LONDON FILM CRITICS' CIRCLE AWARDS CEREMONY.
Star JAMIE BELL won the BEST NEWCOMER title at the awards held yesterday (15FE01), with the movie scooping a further four accolades.
The heart-warming tale of an aspiring ballet star was named BRITISH FILM OF THE YEAR while JULIE WALTERS, who played a dance teacher, beat KATE WINSLET and EMILY WATSON to be named best British actress.
The film also won BRITISH PRODUCER OF THE YEAR for GREG BRENMAN and JONATHAN FINN and BEST BRITISH DIRECTOR for STEPHEN DALDRY. (PDD/WNWCCB)
